LA Fire Juniors Physicians

Dr. David Leslie, DO

Dr. David Leslie joins the LA Fire Juniors team as a primary care, sports medicine trained physician. Dr. Leslie is also be a key addition to Ochsner Sports Medicine’s Concussion Management Program.

Dr. Leslie is an active member of the American Osteopathic Academy of Sports Medicine and the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians. He is currently a board certified family medicine physician. He completed his sports medicine fellowship at Edward Via Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine/Virginia Tech, where he served as an associate team physician for Virginia Tech and Radford University athletics.

Dr. Leslie has specific interests in sports medicine through both clinical and teaching avenues. He has been clinical faculty at both Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine and Edward Via Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine and enjoys teaching in both the clinic and classroom setting. Dr. Leslie is also a USA Boxing certified physician. He has experience and interest in all combat sports such as wrestling, mixed martial arts, and boxing.

He is originally from the Detroit metro area in Michigan and is married to his wife, Lauren.

Dr. Deryk Jones, MD

Dr. Deryk Jones is the Section Head of Sports Medicine and Cartilage Restoration at the Ochsner Sports Medicine Institute. He also covers numerous college and high school teams throughout the New Orleans and surrounding parishes.

Dr. Jones received his Bachelor Degrees in Science and Philosophy from Emory University where he played collegiate soccer and then received a Doctorate of Medicine from Stanford University School of Medicine. Dr. Jones completed an internship in general surgery at Brigham and Women's Hospital followed by residency training in orthopaedic surgery at the Harvard Combined Orthopaedics Residency Program in Boston. Dr. Jones is board certified through 2020 and has subspecialty certification in sports medicine through 2019. He is a full professor in Orthopaedic surgery at Ochsner Clinical School and the University of Queensland, Australia.

On completion of training he joined the faculty of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Tulane University School of Medicine with an adjunct appointment in the Biomechanics Department and currently still holds an appointment as Clinical Assistant Professor at Tulane University. He serves as the Louisiana state representative for the Council of Delegates in the American Orthopaedic Society of Sports Medicine (AOSSM).
